Jacques Charpentier Leather & Steel Living Room Set, France 1970's
Jacques Charpentier Leather & Steel Living Room Set, France 1970's
DETAILS:
A rarely seen full living room set, this 'California' model designed by Jacques Charpentier in the 1960s, comprises a three-seater sofa, a single-seat sofa, and an armchair. The upholstery retains its original dark blue leather. This model mixes hard edge lines with soft curves for a well balanced design. It is firm yet extremely comfortable and rests on the distinctive steel base Charpentier is known for.
Working closely alongside designers such as Maria Pergay and François Monnet, Jacques Charpentier contributed on incorporating steel into his designs and became one of the main influencers in the trend to make metal more than just a building material used in the creation of skyscrapers. Jacques Charpentier also edited Pierre Folie's metal furniture works and contributed to a number of interior design projects by Maison Jansen.
